Kyle Theirmann : Buy Local, Surf Global

Kyle Theirmann, 20, is a pro surfer with a passion to systematically affect change. His first video, Claim Your Change, details how money kept in multinational banks is used to finance destructive projects all over the world. One such project, a proposed coal-fired powerplant in Constitucion, Chile, is the subject of Claim Your Change.

The Claim Your Change video inspired people to move over $110 million dollars of lending power out of centralized banks into local banks, and reached over 10,000 people as far reaching as South America, Africa and much of Europe.

I met Blake, John and Zak Suhar when they were volunteering for Reverb at the Jack Johnson 2010 Alpine Valley & Rivers Edge shows. They helped out with the tour's All At Once booth and in the Village Green, and were so amazing.

During the Alpine Valley show they offered to come help us out the following day, at the Rivers Edge show. They then drove 12 hours round-trip so that they could help us out at Rivers Edge, driving through the night on the return leg, so that Blake could be at work early the next AM. We were so lucky to have them with us for two shows.

180 SOUTH is the story of one of the most unique and prolific environmentalists of our time: Yvon Chouinard.

Rather than re-living Yvon's story through old photos and his life's work with pie charts, 180 SOUTH weaves Chouinard's tale through a modern day expedition. This expedition was inspired by the rumor of a legendary trip in 1968 and the proof that came with it when the lost cans of film that documented the trip were recently discovered. The old footage captures Chouinard and best friend Doug Tompkins in 1968 as they explore untouched mountain ranges and un-surfed coastline on a 5000 mile expedition from California to deep Patagonia. Be one of the first to see the film on the big screen at its world premier.
