Frame of Mind Films, the team behind the award-winning film The Great 14th: Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama in His Own Words, are making their film available online for free to celebrate His Holiness the Dalai Lama's upcoming birthday. His Holiness the Dalai Lama will celebrate his 85th Birthday on July 6, 2020.

Frame of Mind Films shared, "Through intimate conversations and previously unreleased archival images, the Dalai Lama reveals his story and his experience of the personal, political, spiritual, and historical events that shaped his life. The Great 14th offers an extraordinary, unprecedented insight into the complexities of his life - from past lives of the 5th and 13th Dalai Lamas to his current life as the spiritual and former political leader of Tibet and as a tireless Nobel Peace Laureate."

When I was looking for information about the film last year after it premiered at the Mill Valley Film Festival in October, I learned that Frame of Mind Films had been burglarized on July 29, 2019 but they overcame it and were ready to premiere the film two months later.
"That said, Rawcliffe, a longtime student of Buddhism, can’t help but absorb some of the advice offered by her own film subject.
"'I’ve worked with His Holiness over the last 20 years,' she said. 'You can’t come out of this and do a film about him without turning to his good counsel. What does he say? You focus on what you can do, you don’t look to the past, you don’t imagine what might happen in the future. He walked over the Himalayas. That example alone — he didn’t give up, how can we?'"

The team wrote, "For the benefit all sentient beings, please help Frame of Mind Films and The Great 14th reach a broader global audience.
"A portion of the proceeds from this Global Virtual Premiere will help complete the translation of the film into 14 languages already in production: French, German, Italian, Spanish (Latin American), Portuguese (Brazilian), Russian, Chinese (Traditional and Simplified), Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Hindi, Mongolian, and Tibetan. As funds allow, Myanmar (Burma), Thai, Cambodian, Malaysian, and Indonesian will be produced.

That article quoted director/writer/producer Rosemary Rawcliffe. The journalist Natalie Orenstein wrote, "Meanwhile, Rawcliffe is trying to figure out how to get the film out to a wider audience, and how to raise back some of the tens of thousands of dollars the company lost. But the bigger picture is still blurry.
“'On the 14th of October, when the festival is over and the dust starts to settle, what happens? No idea,' she said.
"That said, Rawcliffe, a longtime student of Buddhism, can’t help but absorb some of the advice offered by her own film subject.
