Amitabha Buddha, YouTube. |
The monks from Gaden Shartse Thubten Dharge Ling and Gaden Shartse Cultural Foundation in California began an Amitabha Buddha puja and the creation of an Amitabha Buddha sand mandala on Saturday, June 20, 2020.
The monks will continue offering prayers and working on the sand mandala daily for one week.
Amitabha Buddha Puja and Sand Mandala
The activities will begin at 10:00 AM PT daily and are livestreaming on the Gaden Shartse Thuben Dharge Ling Facebook page.
The monks were asked to construct this sand mandala and were sponsored to do so. If you would like to make an offering and dedicate your offering to a loved one then visit the Gaden Shartse Thubten Dhargye Ling website.
The text that the monks are using for the Amitabha Buddha puja is available for free download on the Gaden Shartse Cultural Foundation website. Although there are two postings (Tibetan and English), it is the same one. The headings are in English but the verses are Tibetan phonetics. Unfortunately, due to time, there is no English version of these prayers.

On the first day of the livestream viewers were reminded to set their motivation before watching the livestream. Also, after viewing viewers can dedicate the merit.

Amitabha Buddha
Gaden Shartse Cultural Foundation wrote, "The principal of the Padma family (Lotus family) of the five Buddha family and Pure Land Buddhism. His Body is a red color. He keeps his hands in the Dhyani (Dhyana) Mudra: the mudra of meditation. Buddha Amitabha is called 'the Buddha of immeasurable light and life' and is invoked in the practices asking for longevity and prevention of an untimely death. His secret mantra is OM AMIDEVA HRIH (SHRIH)."
