From now until May 1st, the Power of a Girl is encouraging youth between the ages of 13 to 21 in North America and the U.K., to sign up and raise funds for the Free The Children's Kisaruni Girls’ Secondary School, located in Kenya.

Free The Children - California : Open Mic for Young Change Makers :: Palo Alto, CA. Sat May 15.

Just learned about Free The Children today ... Winner of the 2007 Skoll Award for Social Entrepreneurship, amongst other awards ...

Founded by a group of twelve 12-year-olds, Free The Children has since grown to become the largest network of children helping children through education. Today, Free The Children is a network of young people over one million strong.

Through the voices and actions of youth, Free The Children continues to create change both at home and abroad. We have built over 500 schools in developing countries, providing daily education to over 50,000 kids in the developing world.

Together, we are still achieving the same goal we set out with over 14 years ago - to free children from poverty and exploitation, and to free young people from the idea that they are powerless to make a difference.

For more about what they do, go here.

Check out this video summary about the California program.

Also check out this Bay Area event:
