Sonam Topgey Kazi

"In March of 1959, I heard that fighting had started in Lhasa and that H.H. the Dalai Lama had escaped, but no one knew of his whereabouts. The outside world showed great concern for his safety. From there we went to Tezpur, Mussoorie, and finally, to Dharamsala."

"I was attached to H.H. the Fourteenth Dalai Lama as his Chief Interpreter for thirteen years in Dharamsala, until 1972."
