CHANGE is Oxfam America’s national student leadership program for rising sophomores and juniors. Each year 50 students are selected to participate, from the US and around the world.
CHANGE is entering its 11th year this summer. So far over 500 CHANGE Leaders have been trained from more than 200 colleges and universities throughout the US. Hear from some of the CHANGE alumni, here.
The year long program requires that accepted applicants attend a week-long training in the summer and work on Oxfam issues upon their return to campus.
More about the week-long training:
Some days we start at 8am and don’t finish until 9 or 10pm at night. Full participation is expected from all students. Students learn about Oxfam America and our campaigns, get to know student leaders from around the world, connect with student leaders from their region, participate in team building and leadership activities, learn organizing skills and connect with Oxfam staff. This is done through a variety of activities from interactive simulations, guest panels, presentations, videos, small group breakouts, personal reflections, etc.
The 2010 CHANGE training will take place in Boston July 24-30, 2010. All selected students must commit to attending the entire training. Oxfam covers all costs associated with students attending the training; flights, food and lodging during the week in Boston.
To apply, students must find a campus advisor who is able to write a recommendation for them. All student applications and advisor recommendations are due April 1, 2010. Begin the application process here. More info here.
