Global Health Idea Incubator Workshop :: New Haven, CT. Sept 24.

Ah! I wish that I could attend this event ... the Global Health Idea Incubator Workshop @ the Unite for Site office (across from Yale's Campus in New Haven, CT) on Sept 24 from 1 - 6pm.

Do you have an idea for a program, project, or organization? Unite For Sight's Founder and CEO Jennifer Staple-Clark will hold a 1/2-day workshop to help you develop and launch your idea.

The workshop will focus on effective healthcare delivery and the importance of best practices in global health, successful strategies of social innovation and social entrepreneurship, and mentoring and guidance on how to establish new initiatives and organizations.

The workshop will be a small, intimate roundtable forum for students & professionals who have been accepted into the workshop. Apply early because apps are reviewed on a rolling basis. Once you've been accepted, there is a $70/person fee for the workshop.

Here's a little bit about the very awesome Jennifer Staple-Clark and how she started Unite for Site while she was a sophomore at Yale:

While doing some research for this blog post I came across another interesting event - Bay Area Global Health Summit: Innovation & Action for the Next Decade. It's taking place on October 13 @ UC San Francisco's School of Medicine from 8:30am - 5pm. Details here.

I also found that Child Family Health International holds an annual mixer for member of the public who would like to learn more about the organization. The NYC Mixer is Sept 16 & the San Francisco Mixer is September 23. Details about both mixers here.

CFHI was founded by Evaleen Jones, MD while she was a medical student at Stanford University School of Medicine. Here's a summary of CFHI's work:

And if you can't get to any of these events but have an idea for a new social venture or nonprofit, then you can still get help from these toolkits geared towards social entrepreneurs.
